Sadly, yup.
My cat got a skin cancer from lounging in the sun all day and it cost me a pretty penny to have it cut out (they trimmed the ear tip). Yes, I could have kept her entirely indoors for all of her life as if she lived inside a submarine (and I have many friends who have done just that – no problem there), but Keba came from the outdoors when she adopted me and I left it up to her to live the live she wanted. She was always a low/zero maintanence kitty and it wasn’t until her later years that she switched to preferring the cat box to “taking it outside.” Now she is exclusively indoors (her choice again) and her own rule is that she and she alone is queen of the master bedroom (each of my 3 cats has their own designated and exclusive space, which is apparently how they like it – spoiled little buggers!).
I feel honored to be chosen by Keba to be the recipient of her constant affection (though she generally shows it by largely ignoring me at this point).
